No News like No News!

The fact that it's nearing the birthday of my last post
doesn't mean I haven't been busy. Quite the opposite.
Ian Xavier Weier (my second & final child) was born
August 25, 2007. He's a happy little guy but has yet to
discover the lost art of sleeping through the night.
Kira & I survive day-to-day by sleeping whenever we
can.
Logan is still doing well - he's turned 2 and is
taking his opportunity to be "willful" but not
excessively. My favorite Logan quote to date happened
when we told him "No, Logan - take that fork away from
your eye" and he replied, "NO! More Fork in the EYE!".
His hobbies currently include watching Beatles' Yellow Submarine, playing with his trains & Little People, and looking out for his little brother.
In other news, the smaller of the two Arcade
cabinets I am building, MetaCab Jr., is basically done.
only things remaining are to customize the bezel (frame
around the monitor). It's totally functional which
makes it hard to get too motivated to put any more work
into it perfecting things.
I've been sporadically blogging about the arcade endeavor here at my Metacab Blog.

Other shenanigans

I'm still working at Pixel Farm Interactive on a variety of interactive work ranging from websites to multi-player business games to CDROM's. During my free time, Kira & I are currently re-reading the entire Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan in order to have been through it all one more time before he releases the next and final book.
Reality Theory 3.1

A mere year after switching the site to a lightweight
RapidWeaver-developed approach,
and I still haven't redesigned it? Well, I've been
busy. So, today I am taking the time to reorganize
everything (you'll want to update your links if
you have any to a specific page). I also threw
away the old lame template header in favor of a
basic orange. Hopefully I'll get time &
inspiration to actually create my own rapidweaver
theme soon. I also totally wiped out every scrap
of data on my entire web host account (Transmit seemed to delete the
entire site when all I (thought I) told it to was
delete one sub-subdirectory.). And so, here's the
new, lean mean site, free from 6 years of digital
detritus that have piled up since
realitytheory.com first launched back in 1998.
As such, please let me know if you find anything broken or missing and I'll do my best to fix it right quick.

I found a sweet little app called RapidWeaver that I've decided to
use to maintain my website. It's a standards-based
CSS-skinnable lightweight app capable of very
quickly updating a variety of useful site content
areas. Hopefully I'll use it to update the site
more than I have over the past 7+ years of using
Dreamweaver. I will be able to simply & easily
reskin the entire site whenever I find some
time.
Logan changes everything

it's true - I can do almost nothing but take care of my son, it seems.
It's great to be a parent but I had no idea how
much everything in my life would be turned on its
head. Simple things like brushing my teeth now
seem to be a privilege enjoyed only when the grace
of Logan is favorable.

3D Flash Arcade Interface completed
March 05 2004 10:19 | Permalink
I finished a 3D flash
arcade interface to uniquely navigate some of my
older digital art, photography and animation. You can
try out the joysticks & buttons to simulate the
effect of interacting with 80's arcade cabinets. I'm
hoping to some day extend it by adding a music jukebox
and/or a means of randomly visiting websites
(pachinko?).
New Job at Pixel Farm Interactive

I just got a sweet new job at Pixel Farm Interactive, where I
will serve as the Senior Multimedia Artist. My
duties will include Flash design & programming
for CD and web, animation, and web design. I will
also serve as internal team lead on most projects.
I'm sure I'm going to enjoy my time there.
